The 12 V alternator has applications in automobiles and in some light duty vehicles. Its purpose is to produce elctricity to recharge the battery of the car as well as energize its electrical components when the engine is running. A 12 volt alternator functions through electromagnetic induction. There is a pulley on the belt of the car’s engine that drives the alternator’s belt. The alternator consists of a rotor, which is a permanent magnet, and a rotor that spins in the stator which is fixed. By means of the coilds of the stator, anathematting current is produced, which is laterconverted to direct current by a rectifier. With its voltage output, the alternator avails the headlights, radio, air conditioning, and other electrical accessories of the vehicle. It also charges the 12 volt battery while keeping the electrical system of other systems in the vehicle operational.
