The parts of the camshaft system includes the camshaft shaft, thrust washers, sprockets and camshaft lobes. The camshaft lobes are located at set angles with respect to the shaft to each other and the shaft so that they can actuate the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves of the engine. Washers limit unwanted axial movement of the camshaft. It is common for the sprockets to be mounted on the crankshaft and to have a timing belt or chain, with the purpose of commanding the camshaft rotation, in sync with the crankshaft. The combustion subprocesses in the engine is highly dependent on the state of the camshaft assembly. The whole assembly can face issues in case a lobe of the assembly is broken or a sprocket is not in position leading to misaligned valve timing which brings the functions of the engine, ailed by misfires, power generation severely diminished.
