The hub assembly comprises the wheel hub spindle which is shaped like a shaft. Unlike other components of the vehicle, the wheel hub spindle does act as an axle because the wheel is mounted to it and can freely rotate around it. The wheel hub is positioned on the spindle unlike the brake spindle which has a different configuration. Shear forces acting on the spindle such as braking, vehicular load, and g-forces during turns will act on the wheel. In some vehicles, the spindle is attached to the axle assembly while in others it is a stand-alone unit. In order for the wheels and suspension parts to work effectively, the condition of the wheel hub spindle needs to be looked after meticulously. Vertical and horizontal movements, including tilting or swiveling, are made friction free with struts and bearings. Besides this, the bearings that are positioned between the hub and axle allow movement without friction loss.
